If you’re anything like us, once you dive into Amazon, you can easily lose a couple of hours searching for the right products – valuable time you could be riding your bike! So to save you the hassle, we’ve pulled together the 5 best-selling cycling shorts on Amazon, keeping to a budget of under £20.
What people love about these shorts is the 3D padding which uses the latest composite technology to equally distribute pressure from the body on the saddle. It’s 25mm thick with wings so very comfortable and significantly reduces chafing in the inner thigh area. The only thing to point out is that they can be a little tight if you’ve got thick thighs so you might need to go up a size.
Very similar to the ones above, the Sportneer shorts come with anti-slip leg grips which prevent the legs from riding up. Great if you’ve not got thick thighs 🙂 The 3D padding is breathable and provides excellent cushioning which makes for a very comfortable ride. Quite a few of the reviews advise to go up a size. They’re also available with Prime so extra delivery charge if you’re a Prime member.
Available with a black, blue, red or yellow trim, these padded shorts from Tenn have an 8-panel construction with flat-stitched seams that prevent chafing. They have a good quality, breathable pad and leg grippers to keep the legs in place. Unlike most shorts, these seem to come up at the right size but a couple of reviews say to go down a size if you’re quite skinny. There are also a few reviews saying that the pad was a bit too far forward for them so try them over your underwear before going for a ride just in case.
These shorts from LYCAON are available with 6 different trim colours. They have a breathable, protective Coolmax gel pad which provides excellent cushioning, is highly-ventilated and quick to dry. The manufacturer advises to go up a size as they are Asian-sized but if you’re in between sizes, then you might want to go up 2 sizes unless you like a particularly snug fit! The reviews are generally very good saying that they’re very comfortable to wear and of equal quality to much more expensive shorts.
If you’re not strictly a lycra kind o’ guy and prefer to wear baggies over the top (especially if you dabble in a bit of mountain biking too and want to avoid a whole day of lycra-based piss-taking!) then these baggy shorts from TOMSHOO are great value for money. They’re available in black or blue and have 2 hand pockets and 3 zippered pockets so you can carry quite a bit of stuff if you don’t want to wear a bag. The material is thin and very lightweight so quick to dry if you get caught out in the rain.
